Body Scrub - Brown Sugar Rose (12oz)
Exfoliation is one of the most important steps in your skincare routine. Exfoliating helps slough away the dead surface skin cells that cause dullness and clogged pores, and it helps unveil a bright and glowing complexion. Removing this dead layer of skin also helps your skin absorb your favorite skincare products better.
Skin of all ages can benefit from using this luxurious scrub. However, as you age, your skin cells don’t regenerate as fast as they used to, leaving your skin feeling dry. Exfoliating removes old cells allowing new ones to generate easier. As old cells build up on the surface of your body, this can clog your pores, leading to irritations and acne such as Keratosis Pilaris (chicken skin) or terrifying infected hair follicles. If you live in a cold weather environment, the winter air can have devastating effects on your skin’s ability to moisturize and protect itself. Warm, tropical environments can cause harm in the exact opposite way; humidity and heat cause excess oil secretions mixed with sweat which can trap bacteria in hair follicles and multiple layers of skin. Exfoliating often helps to prevent these and many other irritations and conditions.
EVERYONE! This is skincare for all; no matter your age, gender, or race, you can benefit from this scrub. Just keep in mind that the youngest and the oldest users may experience more skin sensitivity and have more delicate skin than others and you should adjust the amount of product you use, how often you use it, and how vigorously you scrub as per individual needs. Delicate skin of toddlers or minors, for example, should not be scrubbed as often, or with as much product, as a general adult. Pregnant women should be cautious when using natural essential oils, talk to your medical provider to see if this product is right for you while gestating.
Caution should be taken when using with babies and toddlers.
Some people can experience slight skin irritation when using 100% essential oil; perform a spot test on your skin first if you are unsure.
Some essential oils can be harmful to pregnant and breastfeeding women (and their babies).
Brown Sugar - Brown sugar’s granulated particles exfoliate your skin, clearing away dry and dead skin cells. This helps create a smoother skin and lends a youthful glow. Brown sugar also has anti-bacterial properties and glycolic acid that keeps your skin radiant and healthy. It also moisturises your skin and conditions it and protects your skin from harmful toxins.
Extra Virgin Olive Oil - For centuries, extra virgin olive oil has been used topically to relieve every day skin ailments. It has anti-inflammatory, antibacterial, and anti-aging properties because it is packed with antioxidants and vitamins. It hydrates the skin by building the skin’s moisture barrier to prevent loss of moisture. It is an amazing skin deep cleanser (especially with makeup & sunscreen), fights oxidative stress, promotes collagen, revitalizes skin tonicity, and aids in wound healing and scar revision. The high proportion of vitamins K and E, and a multitude of polyphenols, protect against free radicals which damage the skin, making extra virgin olive oil effective in aiding common skin disorders such as acne, psoriasis, eczema, and diaper rash.
Grapeseed Oil - Grapeseed oil packs a powerful punch thanks to natural stores of antioxidants and skin-promoting compounds. High amounts of omega fatty acids – especially linoleic acid – and vitamin E help maintain healthy moisture levels in the skin. Phytochemicals like proanthocyanidins offer serious benefits for UV defense. Acne-prone skin has been found to be deficient in linoleic acid – so adding more of this fatty acid to your skin via grapeseed oil can help to cut back on breakouts. It also rates as a very low 1 on the comedogenic scale, making it ideal for most skin types. Grapeseed Oil is antifungal, antimicrobial, protects against free radicals, absorbs easily, and moisturizes & balances the skin.
Sweet Almond Oil - Ancient Chinese and Ayurvedic practices have used almond oil for centuries to help soothe and soften the skin and to treat minor wounds and cuts. Many people use almond oil to help treat common skin conditions, such as dermatitis and eczema and emollients containing refined almond oil helps relieve itching and improved the skin’s barrier function in people with xerotic eczema, also known as asteatotic eczema, which causes the skin to become particularly dry, cracked, and itchy. Other natural benefits include retinol rich Vitamin A, Vitamin E, Omega-3 fatty acids to help prevent premature aging, and zinc for healing scars. Almond Oil has also been known to calm inflammation, reduce skin irritation, and even out skin tone.
Rose damascena (Damask rose, Bulgaria) - Known as the "Queen of Oils," Rose oil is highly sought after for its aroma and powerful topical and emotional benefits. Revered for thousands of years as a symbol of love and romance, Rose essential oil has a lush, floral aroma that evokes the beauty of the blossoms from which it is extracted.Enjoyed aromatically, Rose essential oil sets the mood for pampering and romance. Applied topically, it beautifies the skin and leaves it delicately perfumed with a sumptuous aroma.
Optiphen Plus - A unique natural liquid preservative formulation featuring an innovative blend of phenoxyethanol and sorbic acid in an emollient base of caprylyl glycol. The combination of all three ingredients offers effective protection against bacteria, yeast, and mold growth while imparting emolliency. This product has zero parabens and releases zero formaldehyde, making it the perfect protection companion to your all natural product. It is internationally accepted for use in many cosmetic applications. No parabens. NO sulfates. NO animal byproducts. NO carcinogens. NO formaldehyde. NO added or artificial colors or powders. Sugar particles are smaller and thus less abrasive than salt, which makes it a great all-over scrub. This is not only better for more sensitive skin, it avoids the microscopic tearing that salt can cause when used in a scrub. Sugar is better as an exfoliant because the glycolic acid in sugar breaks down the “glue” molecules that hold skin cells close together. This allows younger cells to form easier. Sugar scrubs hydrate your skin because sugar is a natural “humectant”—it draws moisture from the environment into your skin. Salts scrubs, by contrast, can sap moisture from the skin. Salt is better suited for tougher areas such as feet or calloused skin.

Typically, an exfoliating scrub should not be used more than 3 times a week to avoid over-exfoliation and a disrupted natural skin barrier. However, some people use the scrub on their hands & feet every day of the week. Experiment and find your happy place. The sugar dissolves easily in warm/hot water, and once you create friction using the oils in the scrub, it becomes much more of an emollient and not so coarse or agressive on your skin. Adjust your usage based on your body's reaction and personal preference.
If you have sensitive skin, you should be cautious when incorporating any exfoliant into a skincare routine. Start by only using a sugar scrub once a week to see how your skin reacts, then increase frequency as needed and tolerated.
If skin irritation occurs, please lessen frequency of use. A very small percentage of users with sensitive skin could experience irritation caused by using essential oil.
Sugar scrub can expire. If it looks and smells normal, it’s probably okay to use. If the scrub has changed color, consistency, or smell, it’s time to toss the scrub.
Soleil Bleu scrubs could last anywhere from 3-24 months. This often depends on how much water gets into the container, how much humidity or mold may be present in the environment, and the specific oils mixed with the sugar. I do use a natural preservative to help combat premature spoilage. It is recommended to use a scoop or spoon to prevent cross contamination which will extend the life of your scrub.
Soleil Bleu Sugar Scrub is formulated to be used scalp-to-toes. It is safe to use on your scalp, your face, your body, hands, and feet.
In terms of how to use a sugar scrub, it depends on where you're exfoliating. If you're using a sugar scrub on your face, use light pressure and rub it in circular motions. Be sure to follow up with a hydrating moisturizer. When using a sugar scrub on your body, apply the sugar scrub in circular motions on wet skin, starting from your feet and working your way up. Leave the formula on for a few minutes and then rinse off with water.
You need to start paying closer attention to your scalp! Over a period of time, using too much dry shampoo and other hair products will leave your hair follicles clogged and flaky. Just like the rest of your skin, your scalp also needs cleansing, moisturizing, and exfoliating. Using this scrub on your scalp can increase circulation and help control dandruff, dry skin, and dermatitis. Add about a tablespoon of scrub to your favorite shampoo and revive your scalp.
Use caution and gentle motions if using on face, lips, or on children.
Although specifically formulated to not make you or your shower oily, please use caution when using in the shower or bath as to not slip and fall.
